Newest Addition to the Collection!
Diary Entry 2 (November 2025)
If you’re like me, the moment you step into a grocery store, you’re immediately checking out what plants they have for sale. Since summer, I haven’t bought a new plant, but honestly, I went grocery shopping and Trader Joe’s never disappoints when it comes to plants… okayy. If you have one in your area, I definitely recommend checking out their plant collection.
Anyways… I wanted to grab a fresh bunch of flowers because I accomplished something huge that week and wanted to celebrate myself. Instead, my heart went towards these two babies below, and I decided I had to bring them home with me. I couldn’t be happier!
- Pilea Involucrata (Friendship Plant)
This is a Spring bloomer, it comes alive during the season! If you’re growing Pilea involucrata, make sure your plant is: potted in nutrient-rich, loose, and well-draining soil; placed in a bright spot out of direct sunlight; and watered regularly without over-saturating the soil.
Honestly, I’m excited to see how it grows in my home, especially now that it’s fall.
- Asplenium Antiquum (Japanese Bird’s Nest Fern)
If you’re looking for a unique houseplant to add to your collection, I might have to convince you to get this one. I feel so blessed, this is actually my second Japanese plant in my collection now! The first one I purchased this summer was the (Japanese Crispy Wave plant). I knew nothing about it at the time, but now I have completely fallen in love with it.
One thing I have learned, is that I need to move it from the spot where I like to keep it. The bright sunlight that comes in through my balcony door in the morning has scorched the leaves a bit when I open the blinds.
Anyways, back to the Asplenium Antiquum (Japanese Bird’s Nest Fern), which is the second picture in the gallery. Japanese Bird’s Nest Ferns make great bathroom plants! They love high humidity levels, consistent moisture, and medium to lower light conditions to truly thrive.
