Welcome to Vanessa Korboi – my little corner of the internet where I give myself the opportunity to share the things I love and document life as it unfolds.
My family and friends call me V, Aunty V, Vee, or Nessa, a 20- something year old bilingual Liberian-American who has called the DMV area home for the past 10 years. My journey has been shaped by both personal curiosity and professional growth.
Fun fact: Vanessa (vah-ness-ah) means “butterfly” in Welsh which is a symbol of transformation and growth.

I have spent the past six years working in the nonprofit and international development sector, with a background in public health and program management. During this time, I have supported initiatives across the public health and agriculture sectors, contributing to efforts that strengthen systems across (Africa, South America, and West Asia), expand access to essential services, and empower communities to build sustainable solutions.
I am especially fascinated by women’s health, not just the science of it, but the stories, the disparities, the cultural layers, and the strength that very much often go unseen. Women’s health sits at the intersection of policy, access, culture, and lived experience, and I am deeply curious about how we can create more informed and empowering spaces for women everywhere.
Outside of my professional life, I am passionate about all things health and wellness, and a proud plant mom. I am drawn to deep conversations that go beyond small talk, music that feels like therapy, and simple rituals like journaling. You might often find me with a cup of coffee or tea in hand, or planning my next travel adventure. I am simply a curious being, always trying to learn, asking questions, trying to connect the dots. This blog is a reflection of that curiosity (a space where my interests, experiences, and evolving thoughts meet).
I also have a youtube channel , where you can find recent updates.
“Love Yourz” = Love your life, your journey, your flaws, your blessings.
