Welcome to Vanessa Korboi—a space I founded as my little corner of the internet, where curiosity meets reflection. Here, I share the things I love, explore the questions that stay with me, and document life as it unfolds.
My family and friends call me V, Aunty V, Vee, or Nessa. I’m a twentysomething bilingual Liberian-American who has called the DMV area home for the past 10 years. My journey has been shaped by both personal curiosity and professional growth, and this space reflects the intersection of those experiences.
Fun fact: Vanessa (vah-ness-ah) means “butterfly” in Welsh which is a symbol of transformation and growth.

I have spent the past six years working in the nonprofit and international development sector, with a background in public health and program management. I recently became a licensed Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), a milestone that reflects my continued commitment to expanding my knowledge and experience in healthcare. During my career, I have supported initiatives across the public health and agriculture sectors, contributing to efforts that strengthen systems across (Africa, South America, and West Asia), expand access to essential services, and empower communities to build sustainable solutions.
I am especially fascinated by women’s health, not just the science of it, but the stories, the disparities, the cultural layers, and the strength that very much often go unseen. Women’s health sits at the intersection of policy, access, culture, and lived experience, and I am deeply curious about how we can create more informed and empowering spaces for women everywhere.
Outside of my professional life, I am passionate about health and wellness, a proud plant mom, and someone who genuinely enjoys conversations that go beyond small talk. I’m drawn to music that feels like therapy, the quiet ritual of journaling, and moments of stillness with a cup of coffee or tea. You will probably also find me planning my next travel adventure or chasing another rabbit hole of curiosity.
At my core, I am simply someone who loves learning, asking questions, and connecting the dots. This website is a reflection of that curiosity, a place where my (interests, experiences, personal reflections, and evolving thoughts) come together. My hope is that something you read here encourages you to pause, think a little deeper, or see the world from a different perspective.
I also have a youtube channel , where you can find recent updates.
“Love Yourz” = Love your life, your journey, your flaws, your blessings.
