Wow, it’s 2026, and I am intentionally taking it slow. This is the year I decided to release the pressure of starting something entirely new or subscribing to the idea of “new year, new goals.” Instead, I am focusing on nurturing what’s already going well and building from there.

My mornings have been filled with softness, which includes making coffee, journaling, and sitting in gratitude for the simple blessing of being alive to see a brand-new day. I have slowly returned to my gratitude journal, although I journal very often in my regular journal, my gratitude journal, provides reflective questions that encourages me to truly look within. Answering them reminds me that life is forever a journey, not a destination.
Lately, I have allowed my curiosity to lead, and that’s what brought me to purchasing a turntable. This is an interest I am genuinely excited to explore, and I have loved every moment of researching record stores around my city. So far, I have visited two and picked up some beautiful records. There’s truly nothing like vibing to Sade or Burna Boy in the evenings while cooking a delicious meal, if you ask me.

I have also been reorganizing my space, ensuring it feels more and more like home, filled with pieces that represent who I am and who I am becoming. As part of that process, I am mindfully adding new plants into my space this year. Recently, I bought this mini Bird of Paradise for my bedroom, and I am excited to nurture this new addition to my growing collection.

On another note, I have fully entered my Betty Crocker era. I baked a Japanese sweet potato pie for the first time and have been perfecting my Liberian shortbread. This last batch was incredibly moist and absolutely delicious.
I hope January 2026 is treating you with love and kindness, nurturing your soul and allowing yourself to ease gently into the year ahead.
